Under the supervision of the Housing Advisor and reporting to the Director of Housing & Technical Services, the incumbent will support the STC Housing Department in conducting inspections of housing units in the seven STC Communities. The building inspector trainee will learn and assist in assessing the condition of residential buildings, identifying health and safety issues, and ensuring compliance with housing policies, building codes, and maintenance standards. This position will provide hands-on experience in the field of residential inspection and housing services within a First Nation context and under the mentorship of both the STC Building Inspector and Housing Advisor.

This position is funded through the CMHC Housing Internship for Indigenous Youth (HIIY) which requires that the incumbent be between the ages of 15 and 30 years old, unemployed and not receiving E.I. benefits. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with an interest in construction to work collaboratively with our STC Housing and Technical Services team.
