Position Summary
The Environmental Superintendent is a subject matter expert who applies the principles of engineering, soil science, biology, and chemistry to develop solutions to environmental problems. The role has a key focus on development and reclamation closure permits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
-Participates, reviews and is a key stakeholder in developing strategy and content of permit applications that are approvable and acceptable to regulatory agencies.
-In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, interpretations and health and safety programs.
-Coordinates with government agencies to participate in, learn of and administer regulatory updates, and serves as a representative of the company.
-Determines the best ways to meet business goals while protecting the environment.
-Coordinate third-party environmental assessments when required including but not limited to SCDC, archaeological, and hydrogeological sweeps and searches.
-Provide environmental regulatory support to staff, management, and mining operations.
-Provide guidance and review regulatory compliance reports such as GHG emissions, water quality interpretation and reporting, discharges and discoveries, as well as decommissioning and reclamation.
-Perform related work as required.
Typical Working Conditions
Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work. Some fieldwork when required.
Education and Experience
-Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Engineering.
-Minimum 8 years of related work experience.
-Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
-Knowledge of legal land documents, including property deeds, land contracts and lease agreements an asset.
Licenses, Registration, and Certifications
Ability to obtain a professional designation within 12 months of hire (e.g. PAg, PEng. etc.)
