Education:
- Degree in Addictions, Social Sciences, or Human Services Disciplines acceptable to the employer.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
- A strong knowledge of the best practices associated with treating addictions and/ or addiction related issues and the effects of addictions on, families and the community.
- A strong knowledge of Recovery orientated systems of care, trauma informed practice, culturally safe and culturally centered care and the continuum of substance use and recovery support.
- Ability to accurately assess addictions and/ or addiction related issues and make appropriate recovery plans and referrals.
- Demonstrate knowledge of therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing & Stages of change.
- Knowledge of impact of substance use and harms associated with use.
- Knowledge and effects substance use and withdrawal symptoms, along with appropriate resources and recovery resources/programs to mitigate harm.
