The Ministry of Agriculture is seeking a confident, motivated individual to provide program coordination, correspondence, research and analysis to support the Consultation and Engagement Unit in meeting its obligations under Treaty Land Entitlement, Specific Claims and the Duty to Consult.
The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the administration of land claims selections and the legal Duty to Consult process.
As a Strategic Initiatives Analyst, you will work within the Consultation and Engagement Unit, Lands Branch to:
- work with provincial, municipal, and Aboriginal governments, stakeholders, Crown land lessees, business developers, lawyers and other organizations to address the governments land claim and Duty to Consult obligations;
- provide ongoing engagement and relationship building with Indigenous communities and other non-governmental Indigenous organizations;
- conduct research and analysis on Treaty Land Entitlement, Specific Claims and the Duty to Consult; and
make relevant policy and program recommendations.
The candidate of choice will have:
- strong communication and organizational skills to deal with various stakeholders and provide correspondence support;
- strong analytical and research skills for developing solutions and policies;
- the ability to work independently and collaborate as a member with co-workers, agencies and others; and
- knowledge of Treaty Land Entitlement, Specific Claims and Duty to Consult.
- Knowledge of government structures, legislation and policy processes is an asset.
The skills required for this position would typically be obtained through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Arts or equivalent combination of education and experience in government process.
