Description

The Courts and Community Justice Division has an exciting career opportunity for an accountable, responsible, and professional Deputy Local Registrar, Court of Kings Bench. We are seeking an exceptional candidate to be part of our team in the Swift Current Local Registrar's office, who will be committed to the pursuit of excellence.

As Deputy Local Registrar, you will be responsible for:

- Upholding the dignity of the court by providing support and assistance to the Court of King's Bench Justices;
- Assisting the legal profession, legal secretaries, court runners and the general public when working in the Registry Office;
- Receiving, processing and registering legal documents for legal cases such as family, civil, criminal and estate litigations and ensuring all documentation complies with the Rules of Court for Saskatchewan, various federal and provincial Statutes and the Canadian Criminal Code;
- Determining and collecting the correct fees for filing court documents;
- Convening and adjourning court and maintaining accurate court records, marking exhibits, swearing in witnesses and operating digital recording equipment;
- Preparing documents such as exhibit lists, digital log notes, and judicial orders and decisions;
- In criminal matters, you will arraign the accused, take pleas and impanel the jury;
- Accurately recording judicial decisions and responding to questions related to fiats, using shorthand or speed writing;
- Following the court, you will prepare, approve and distribute a variety of post-court documents, ensuring legislative compliance; and
- Providing assistance to clients and information in response to general inquiries.
