The Community-Based Early Years Liaison will be responsible for overseeing and supporting early childhood education and care programs at Flying Dust First Nation. This includes Head Start, Nursery, Kindergarten, and Grade 1 programs, serving children aged 3-6. The role focuses on ensuring culturally relevant, community-driven programming that supports the holistic development of children and their families. The Liaison will also be responsible for long- and short-term planning, outreach, budgeting, work plans, reporting, and coordination with key stakeholders, including Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop, implement, and oversee culturally relevant programming for ECE (ages 3-6).
Support Head Start, Nursery, Kindergarten, and Grade 1 programs in alignment with community and cultural values.
Mentor and model best practices for frontline early childhood educators.
Facilitate professional incorporating Indigenous knowledge and pedagogies.
Build strong relationships with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, families, and service providers.
Plan and host culturally relevant family engagement events
Coordinate outreach initiatives and home visits to connect families with early years services
Support development of trimester progress reports to parents and caregivers.
Invite Elders and Knowledge Keepers to share traditional knowledge, language, and teachings within early years programming.
Collaborate with Education Manager on early learning and family wellness initiatives.
Manage program budgets and ensure sustainability.
Prepare work plans, reports, and funding applications
Support children transition from early years programs to formal schooling.
Ensure compliance with ECE regulations and assessments (e.g., EYE and ASQ.Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, or a related field.
