Reporting to the Mill Manager, the incumbent will provide strategic direction and leadership to the Technical department; managing department staff in a collaborative, team environment while ensuring safety standards and full compliance to all regulatory requirements are being met.
Responsibilities:
Direct all aspects of customer service including customer quality specifications, customer information, complaint response, etc.
Quality control maintain high quality standards for the produced pulp. Will be instrumental in grade development.
Process Optimizationensure process is running efficiently and at optimal levels.
Process Engineering--assistance in the development and implementation of operational strategy and/or capital improvements.
Implement measures to improve energy efficiency.
Cost Management-monitor and control operational costs. Direct efforts of engineers and technologists in areas of operating cost, quality control, and process optimization.
Data Analysis and reporting collect and analyze data to track KPIs.
Establish and maintain appropriate mill-wide environmental programs.
Regulatory complianceestablish and maintain a reporting network with all appropriate regulatory agencies. Meet all regulatory requirements for testing and reporting information as defined in permits and legislation. Obtain necessary permits required to operate the mill.
Overall maintenance of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 programs.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering or relevant disciplines.
10+ years experience in a manufacturing environment.
2+ years experience in management.
Kraft pulp, TMP, and/or BCTMP knowledge and experience.
Knowledge of product cycle, material acquisition and sales.
Excellent project management and budget management skills.
Strong problem solving to maintain/increase productivity levels to meet agreed targets.
Leadership capabilities with good interpersonal and communication skills.
