The Mihkoskiwakk Nhiyawak Education Authority (MNEA) is seeking a Cree Curriculum Writer, Developer, and Teacher Support Specialist to lead the development of Cree language and cultural curriculum, resources, and teacher supports for our schools. This role is central to advancing MNEAs vision of strengthening Cree identity, language retention, and educational excellence rooted in nhiyawak teachings.
The successful candidate will design and deliver Cree language and culture-based curriculum, develop high-quality teaching resources in the Cree y dialect, and provide direct support to teachers in implementing language and cultural programming in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Develop Cree y dialect curriculum and teaching resources for Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12.
Create lesson plans, units, and assessment tools aligned with Saskatchewan curricular outcomes while rooted in Cree worldview, traditions, and oral language.
Support classroom teachers in effectively delivering Cree language instruction.
Provide professional learning sessions, workshops, and one-on-one teacher mentoring.
Collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and language speakers to ensure accuracy, authenticity, and cultural integrity.
Develop student-centered approaches to Cree literacy and fluency, including land-based learning resources.
