We are seeking A Part time Community Support Worker that will work one on one with youth who have an acquired brain injury. Working cooperatively with the youth and their family, the support worker will be responsible to address the personal support needs, interests and choices of the youth to help facilitate meaningful participation in existing community based recreation and leisure activities.
The support is dependent on the youths availability although typically provided during the day time, evenings or weekends. The number of work hours will vary, depending on the needs of the individual being supported. On average, the potential support time ranges between 3-9 hours per week.
Working as part of the youths support team and reporting to the Radius ABI Community Integration Services Coordinator, the successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 1 year post-secondary training in the human service field. Preference will be given to individuals who have worked or volunteered with youth that have a disability
- An understanding of the principles of inclusion, collaboration, supported decision making, person centered planning and an ability to enact these principles in daily work
- Experience guiding youth in community recreation activities is an asset
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- A flexible work schedule
- The ability to make decisions independently and to work with minimal supervision
- First Aid/CPR certificate
- A valid driver's license, clean driver's abstract and access to a reliable vehicle
- A willingness to travel in Saskatoon and the surrounding area (eg. Martensville, Warman)
- A Criminal Records Check including vulnerable sector search
