Description

Kopahawakenum Community School on the Flying Dust First Nation is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Grade 1 Teacher to join our vibrant school community. The ideal candidate is a passionate educator who fosters a supportive, inclusive, and academically challenging learning environment. This position is an excellent opportunity for a teacher committed to inspiring young minds and building foundational skills for lifelong learning.
Key Responsibilities:
    Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons across core subject areas (e.g., Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies).
    Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
    Create a positive, structured, and respectful classroom climate that promotes student growth and well-being.
    Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
    Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student performance and development.
    Collaborate with grade-level and specialist teachers to support school-wide initiatives and student success.
    Participate in professional development and contribute to the school community beyond the classroom.
Qualifications:
    Bachelor of Education degree or higher from an accredited institution; Eligible for a Saskatchewan Professional A or Provisional Professional A teaching certificate.
    Have a working knowledge of Canadas Indigenous Peoples and to integrate their culture, values and history into the curriculum.
    Have high standards and expectations for academic achievement, especially in the areas of literacy and numeracy.
    Have excellent classroom management skills, and able to utilize and demonstrate positive classroom/behavior management strategies.
    Accommodate and include special needs children by adjusting teaching styles and curriculum as required for inclusion.
