The main responsibilities of the Payroll Officer include all aspects of payroll processing and administrating benefits.
Prepares and processes payroll on a bi-weekly or monthly basis, as applicable
Ensures all payroll documentation for each employee is current and updated
Enrolls employees in benefits programs and manages changes to employee benefits as required
Prepares Record of Employment documents
Maintains training records and certifications
Ensures payroll software is always updated and current
Maintains complete employee files
Prepares payroll remittances to CRA, MEPP, SUMA and any other payroll amounts due on a bi-weekly or monthly basis as applicable
Coordinates the posting of employment opportunities in accordance with established recruitment processes and forwards all potential applicants to the appropriate General Manager.
Cross-trains with the Accounts Payable Officer to have the skills and abilities to step in as support for that position if needed
Provides support to the front-end office administrative team with answering phones and front reception
Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as assigned by the General Manager of Corporate Services
Qualifications:
Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification preferred
Minimum of two (2) years of experience related to payroll processing
Minimum of two (2) years of experience related to administering benefits programs and other clerical responsibilities related to payroll processing.
