Description

Reporting to the Shift Team Leader, the Relief Team Leader (RTL) will assist the Shift Team Leader (STL) in pulp mill operation and to cover the duties of the STL when absent. The RTL leads, directs, and co-ordinates the shift operating crew and shift maintenance personnel to meet production throughput, quality targets,
safety performance, and environmental compliance in alignment with the organizational goals and objectives.     

Responsibilities:
Ensures compliance with OHS and organizational safe work practices
Responsible for all aspects of safety and housekeeping pertaining to crew and their jobs
Ensures product quality meets on grade standards
Maintains compliance with corporate and mill policies and procedures
Work to maximize production and quality while minimizing costs
Co-ordinate Emergency Response Procedures when necessary
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all departments within the mill
Develops and maintains a positive, ethical and professional style that supports teamwork and aids employees in achieving organizational objectives

Qualifications:
Minimum five (5) years of BCTMP pulp mill experience including control room experience
Proven competency in leading and directing a team
Effective oral and written communication skills
Highly motivated and able to work independently
Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and high attention to detail
Ability to establish and maintain supportive working relationships
Flexible, well organized and be able to multi-task
A sense of urgency with regards to operational requirements
Willing and able to work 12 hour rotating shifts
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and temperatures
Capable of working at heights and in confined spaces
