The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is hiring Facility Youth Workers at Kilburn Hall Youth Centre. The ministry provides safe custody for youth offenders and delivers programs that promote rehabilitation and reduce re-offending. We are seeking individuals who want a meaningful career helping youth offenders make positive changes. You will work directly with youth aged 12 to 17, supporting accountability and rehabilitation while ensuring facility safety and security.
Ideal candidates will have knowledge of the criminal justice system, adolescent development, and trauma-informed care. You must hold a valid Class 5 drivers license and First Aid/CPR certification. Strong communication, critical thinking, time management, and collaboration skills are essential. You must be inclusive, adaptable, resilient, and proficient with computer systems.
Responsibilities include assessment, counselling, program delivery, case management, interpreting legislation, teamwork, risk evaluation, and incident response using safe intervention strategies.
Qualifications are typically obtained through a degree in Social Sciences, a diploma in Law Enforcement, or equivalent education and experience. Physical fitness is assessed through a medical evaluation. Successful candidates will complete a paid, full-time 11-week Induction Training Program starting September 22, 2025.
