Description

Branch Librarians are responsible for the day-to-day activities of their branch and work independently under the supervision of the Community Service Librarian and Chinook Regional Library Headquarter. Branch Librarians require a thorough knowledge of library procedures and policies. Regular duties include working professionally with their library board, community members, volunteers, and patrons. Librarians engage with their communities to plan programs, special collections, and services for the needs of their patrons.

Qualifications:
Computer skills including Microsoft Office, and familiarity with Internet searching
Familiarity with the Chinook Regional Library website and library circulation system is an asset
A strong understanding, commitment to, and familiarity of the community
Understanding and appreciation of the philosophy of public library service to people of different ages and cultural backgrounds
Able to stand for periods of time, able to bend and shelve books, able to move library furniture as needed, able to lift boxes of books up to 15 kg
Able to work with minimum supervision
Experience working with children and vulnerable populations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to record statistics and board minutes accurately
Excellent organization and multitasking skills
Program planning, leading, and assessment of programs is an asset

Successful applicants will be required to obtain an RCMP Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check, as a condition of employment.
