The Indian Residential Schools (IRS) Resolution Health Support Program offers emotional health and wellness services to former IRS students and their families, regardless of their status or residence. These services are available to those eligible for the Common Experience Payment (CEP) and those resolving IRS claims through the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process, the Independent Assessment Process (IAP), or litigation.
Former students and their families often experience a range of emotional challenges when disclosing the abuses suffered at Indian Residential Schools. In response, the Government of Canada established the IRS Resolution Health Support Program to address the emotional and wellness needs of former IRS students and their families. These services are accessible before, during, and after the resolution process.
Qualified persons of Indigenous Ancestry will be given preference in accordance with s.16(1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act.
