Summary:
The Outreach Paramedic provides frontline medical and outreach support to individuals facing homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use, and other vulnerabilities. This role combines advanced paramedic skills with street-level engagement, crisis intervention, harm reduction, and service navigation. Working closely with the Regina Street Team and The Nest Health Centre, the Paramedic delivers safe, accessible, and integrated healthcare directly in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Street outreach and client engagement through patrols, crisis de-escalation, and harm reduction.
On-site medical assessments, wound care, BLS, naloxone administration, and hospital referrals as needed.
Navigating and connecting clients to healthcare, housing, addiction treatment, and social supports.
Collaborating with outreach teams, The Nest Health Centre, emergency services, and community agencies.
Maintaining accurate records and reports in line with privacy standards.
Qualifications:
Licensed PCP or ACP with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.
12 years of paramedic experience; background with marginalized populations preferred.
Strong clinical judgment, crisis management, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction knowledge.
Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
Working Conditions:
Community-based work in diverse, unpredictable settings (streets, shelters, encampments).
Frequent exposure to trauma, crises, and challenging behaviours.
Physically demanding; requires resilience, situational awareness, and adherence to safety protocols.
