The Security Officer reports to the Executive Director and focuses on providing a client-focused liaison role within MFHWC. This role is focused on the proactive engagement of clients in order to improve the client experience. The Security Officer seeks to prevent and/or reduce aggressive/disruptive behaviour by employing appropriate verbal intervention strategies through people-centred, respectful, and supportive interactions aimed at promoting a safe environment and the provision high quality client care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Continually monitors and actively patrols the MFHWC cabin areas and proactively engages clients, visitors, and staff in order to develop a positive safety culture;
Creates opportunities to enhance the user experience by making connections with those in the area and, where possible, alleviating some of the stresses and anxiety through respectful interpersonal interactions;
Uses supportive verbal techniques and engages staff resources in order to identify appropriate strategies aimed at the de-escalation of potentially violent behavior;
Acts as a principal contact for security services within the MFHWC and liaises with emergency responders including law enforcement and when managing individuals who may pose a risk of violence;
Conducts and documents an hourly census of the number of persons in the cabins. Maintains basic data concerning the number of client contacts made during each shift.
Helps staff members maintain order to manage physically aggressive or threatening behavior;
REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work shift work/flexible hours.
Valid Class 5 Drivers License and reliable vehicle;
Valid First Aid/CPR certificate;
Must complete a CPIC including a Vulnerable Sector check;
