Description

The City of Swift Current is currently accepting applications for four (4) Seasonal Labourer positions within the Facilities department of the Community Services Division. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, these roles are primarily responsible for janitorial related duties, care and maintenance of buildings, equipment, furnishings and surrounding grounds at various City facilities, including the InnovationPlex, S3 Arenas, Dickson Community Centre and the Lieutenant Colonel Clifton Centre. Job duties also include setting up for meetings, support user groups, and opening and closing of facilities. These positions involve weekend and holiday work as well as varied shifts of 8, 10 and 12 hours, to meet operational requirements.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to maintain written records in a clear and legible manner.
- Ability to work equally well - alone or with a crew.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and take initiative with respect to assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with user groups, the general public, contractors and other City employees in person or over the phone.
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment with appropriate care and attention.
- Ability to use simple hand tools and basic power equipment required for building and grounds maintenance.
- Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.

Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 diploma (or equivalent).
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Previous experience in janitorial related positions.
- Completion of Respect Group Training and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required upon hire.
