The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety has an opportunity for employment as a Probation Officer/Community Youth Worker within Community Corrections, Swift Current office. Your primary goal will be to work within an integrated and collaborative client service approach providing programs and services to adults and young offenders.
To qualify, you will possess a degree from an accredited university or college; or a minimum two-year diploma, with a focus on the principles of behavioural change and other assessment skills, this would include Correctional Studies, Justice Studies, Community and Justice Services, Social Work or Mental Health; or meet the grandfathering provisions in accordance with Community Corrections qualifications. This position is required to travel and work flexible hours, which sometimes may involve evenings. A valid drivers license is required.
You will also:
-Work closely with adolescents/adults in an environment with varying diverse needs, gender differences, and cultural and spiritual belief systems.
-Collaborate with community agencies, other organizations, and government personnel.
-Compose and complete court and violation reports, community collateral, and curfew checks.
-Perform home/community assessments.
