About Us:
TPPELC is a licensed childcare centre dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children. We value healthy living and understand the importance of nutritious meals in children's growth and development.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a caring and organized Cook to join our team. The Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks for children in accordance with Canada's Food Guide and licensing regulations, while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and serve daily meals and snacks for children, considering allergies, dietary restrictions, and cultural needs.
- Follow established menus or assist with menu planning in accordance with provincial childcare guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen, following all food safety and sanitation standards.
- Order and manage groceries and supplies within budget.
- Keep accurate records of menus, inventory, and food safety logs.
- Work collaboratively with educators and staff to ensure mealtime runs smoothly.
Qualifications:
- Food Safe/Food Handler's Certificate (required).
- Knowledge of nutrition, child dietary needs, and allergy awareness.
- Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage time effectively.
- Criminal Record Check (including vulnerable sector) required.
Assets:
- Previous cooking experience (preferably in childcare, school, or institutional setting).
- Experience working in a childcare or group setting.
- Menu planning experience with attention to Canada's Food Guide.
