Description

MGBHLM First Nation is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to join our team and support our Human Resources recruitment, onboarding, performance management and HR administration.  This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional looking to grow their career in a supportive environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Assist with the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
    Assist with new employee onboarding activities, including paperwork, orientation sessions, and training arrangements.
    Assist in maintaining accurate employee records and HR databases, ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulations.
    Assist with preparing HR-related documents
    Assist with benefits administration, and other HR administrative tasks as needed.
    Update and track absences from work such as sick days, leave of absences, vacation days and overtime accruals.
    Answer employees questions and provide requested information.
    Liaise with external partners, Band members and Band Representatives (School, Daycare, Public Works Shop and Band Members.
    Perform other related duties as required by the HR Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
    Diploma or Certificate in HR, Business Administration or related field.
    1-3 years experience in HR roles, with exposure to recruitment and HR Administration.
    Willing to train and complete recommended courses for personal development;  
    Understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with employees at all levels.
    Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS software.
