Summary
The Public Works Manager oversees the operations and maintenance of municipal infrastructure, including water, sewer, storm, and road systems. This role requires strong leadership, regulatory compliance, and effective collaboration with staff, contractors, and the community.
Key Duties
-Plan and manage maintenance projects for roads, water, sewer, and storm systems.
-Supervise staff, provide training, and complete performance evaluations.
-Ensure compliance with OHS, WHMIS, and environmental regulations.
-Oversee inspections, reporting, budgeting, and inventory management.
-Coordinate with supervisors to deliver projects that meet City standards.
-Manage payroll, staffing recommendations, and HR-related issues.
-Maintain public communication and contractor relations.
Transportation & Utilities
-Road maintenance, dust control, snow/ice management, patching, and sidewalks.
-Water distribution system (Class II), wastewater systems, lift stations, and lagoons.
Qualifications
-Grade 12/GED (required); Civil Engineering Technology diploma (asset).
-5+ years in public works management or related field.
-Strong knowledge of construction, safety regulations, and municipal standards.
-Excellent leadership and team management skills.
-Human Resources and/or management training would be an asset
-Water/Wastewater certification and Class G Licence (assets).
-Familiar with budgeting processes
