Description

Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways, Operation and Maintenance Division, Northern Region is seeking an individual to fill a Permanent Full-Time position as Supervisor of Operations in the Athabasca Area in Northern Saskatchewan. In this position, you will be responsible for monitoring contractors performing maintenance of provincial highways, and the construction and maintenance of ice roads. Your duties will include supervising contractors; approving work activities; reviewing invoices and daily work records; testing ice road capacity; and provide technical expertise in the administration of maintenance contracts. You will also be required to monitor the achievement of objectives and ensure quality standards are met.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of procedures and equipment operation related to the proper operation, maintenance and service of heavy-duty motor equipment such as a motor grader/tandem truck; mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, fuel and lubrication systems of heavy equipment; and the applied rate of various types of material in order to operate controls such as clutches, hydrodrums and levers. You will also have knowledge of workplace safety and traffic control procedures and occupational health, workplace hazardous materials and dangerous goods policies and practices.

To qualify for this position, you must possess a valid Class 1A operator's licence and be willing and able to perform the physical labour, heavy lifting and climbing demands of the position. Contract or project management experience and/or knowledge of ice roads will be considered an asset.
