Description

The Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace environment across the City of Swift Current. This position is responsible for coordinating safety programs, ensuring legislative compliance, and supporting departments in implementing effective health and safety practices. With a strong focus on administration, training coordination, and collaboration, the OHS Coordinator contributes to the overall well-being and operational excellence of the organization. This position reports directly to the Director of People and Organizational Culture.

Required Qualifications:
- Formal education in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline.
- Minimum of four (4) years related work experience, preferably in a unionized municipal environment.
- Knowledge of City policies and relevant safety legislation and regulations.
- Experience with WCB, disability and return-to-work practices.
- Strong administrative skills with proficiency in MS Office, databases, and presentation software.
- Organizational skills to manage workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to confidentiality in all aspects of work.
- Integrity and ethical behavior to build trust and credibility across the organization.
- Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and manage technical work problems.
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills to promote safety awareness.
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills with empathy and diplomacy.
- Strong written communication skills for preparing clear and logical documents.
- Skill in planning, developing, and delivering staff training programs.
- Completion of Respect Group Training and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check are required upon hire.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 drivers license.
