The Ministry of Finance's Taxation and Intergovernmental Affairs Branch is seeking a highly skilled, motivated and team focused tax policy analyst for a one-year term position. As a policy analyst, you will provide expert and balanced advice to support effective, efficient and fiscally responsible decision-making.
The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about contributing to the fiscal planning process and is seeking an opportunity to influence public policy issues. You will have:
- Sound understanding and knowledge of tax policy, income tax legislation and financial management principles;
- The ability to research and synthesize various sources of information, including data analysis, to prepare briefing materials presentations and inform policy recommendations;
- The ability to convey complex information and strategic insights in a way that allows an audience to understand the issues and correspondingly make decisions;
- Strong written and oral communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills and relationship building skills that allow you to work with and influence a variety of stakeholders;
- The ability to establish and achieve objectives, often under tight timelines, which may include working some evenings/weekends during peak busy periods; and
- The ability to deal with confidential or sensitive issues.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be acquired through completion of a graduate degree in fields related to accounting, public administration, finance or economics along with related experience, or through an undergraduate degree in those fields combined with relevant experience.
