Duties
Knowledge & skills to provide direct service to those at risk of using gender-based violence
Process referrals & risk assessments, provide support to decrease risk of violence
Use a person-centred, trauma-informed, culturally safe approach
Develop individualized service plans
Facilitate groups, develop programs, & provide public education sessions
Maintain positive working relationships
Attend relevant agency meetings, knowledgeable about agency programs/community activities
Adhere to reporting requirements & agency policy & procedures
Administrative & record keeping duties
Supervision of peers & students
Participate in clinical supervision
May need to perform work outside of regular operating hours
Other duties as assigned
Education
Completed BSW/BISW degree
1-3 years of direct experience
Eligible for registration with & maintain good standing in a relevant professional association
Area of Knowledge
Theories of human development, behaviour, & change
Theories & practices of communication & conflict resolution
Interviewing, assessment, & evaluation techniques
Knowledge of the dynamics of IPV / DV & experience working with those experiencing such violence
Knowledge & experience in trauma-informed approaches & counselling
In-depth knowledge of community resources/agencies & the services offered in relation to IPV
Awareness of & cultural sensitivity to the customs, traditions, spiritual beliefs & philosophy & perspective on family dynamics of Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, & newcomer populations
Awareness of addictions, mental health concerns, FASD & affect on individuals impacted by domestic/intimate partner violence
Experience in facilitating group work & knowledge of group dynamics
Ability to deal with people experiencing difficult, unusual, &/or challenging situations
Valid drivers license & access to a personal vehicle
