HOUSING INSPECTOR TRAINEE
Housing Internship Initiative for Indigenous Youth (HIIY) term position until March 31, 2026 with possible extension of program as per HIIY program parameters.
(Cannot turn 30 years old before March 31, 2026)
Position Summary:
The Prince Albert Grand Council Housing and Technical Services department is recruiting two eligible candidates that have a vested interest in obtaining their class one inspector certification.
Position Description:
Provide the participants with the skills and knowledge required to work with our Housing Inspectors or Housing Circuit Rider Trainer when required for job placement.
Job Shadowing: The Housing Inspector Trainee will be actively involved and receive supervision from their Immediate Supervisors and Senior Inspectors. (Job coaching on building Inspections, reporting and administration of related programs).
PAGC will work with the Trainees throughout the entire process of inspecting new units and existing dwellings test units, and data entry / reporting.
The Trainee will be fully sponsored to attend relevant courses such as Blueprint reading, Wood Energy Technical Training. The Trainee will also be steered to the various on-line continuing education credit courses offered by the Saskatchewan Building Officials Assoc. & First Nation National Building Officer's Assoc. including Inspecting Existing Dwellings.
Qualifications:
Grade twelve (12)
Class 5 Drivers License
Reliable vehicle
Candidate recruitment will focus on empowering Women and Youth
Ability and willing to travel to First Nation communities.
Knowledge of computers and software.
Experience or knowledge of Carpentry and 2015 Building Code of Canada.
