Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to support the financial operations of our organization during a maternity leave. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with Sage50 Accounting, payroll, and government remittances.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records in Sage50
- Record and reconcile all income, donations, and expenses
- Prepare and reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements
- Track restricted funds and allocations to specific programs
- Generate monthly financial reports for the Executive Director
- Process bi-weekly payroll, including source deductions and remittances
- Prepare annual T4 and T4 Summary for CRA submission
- Prepare source documents for annual audit/review
- Maintain organized filing system for receipts, invoices, and supporting documentation
- Ensure compliance with CRA charity reporting requirements and bookkeeping standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years bookkeeping experience (non-profit experience preferred)
- Proficiency with Sage50 (required)
- Strong understanding of double-entry accounting, reconciliations, and payroll
- Working knowledge with CRA payroll and charity reporting requirements
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Contract Details
- Schedule: Flexible, 3 - 4 days per month (extra time required during year-end)
- Compensation: Hourly, commensurate with experience
