Description

We are currently seeking two Full-Time Prevention Workers to join Waterhen Lake First Nation in delivering community-based prevention services and providing vital programs and supports for families at risk. These positions will serve as key resources for families, helping them navigate challenges and access services that promote family wellness and prevent involvement with the Child and Family Services (CFS) system. The Prevention Workers will report directly to the CFS Program Manager, and work under the guidance of the Program Advisor, in collaboration with WLFN Leadership and the WLFN CFS Board.

Responsibilities:
o    Plan and implement community-based and land-based programs, workshops, projects, and events in alignment with workplans, budgets, and funding requirements to achieve prevention objectives and positive family outcomes.
o    Provide community-based family and kinship parenting supports to strengthen caregiving capacity and promote safe, nurturing home environments.
o    Create a respectful, safe, and culturally relevant environment that honors the identity and dignity of every child, youth, and family within Waterhen Lake First Nation.
o    Deliver programs that foster the development of a strong, positive cultural identity for children, youth, and families of Waterhen Lake First Nation.

Knowledge and Experience:
o    Strong planning, community mobilization and inter-cultural communication.
o    Must possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License.
o    Knowledge of Waterhen Lake First Nation community programs and services.
o    Knowledge of Bill C-92, An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Mtis children, youth, and families.
o    Knowledge of First Nation policies and legislations, Saskatchewan Child and Family Services Act, the FSIN Child Welfare and Family Support Act, and other legislation.
o    Knowledge and understanding of First Nations issues such as Indian Residential Schools, Sixties Scoop, and policy on First Nations.
