The Mental Health Addictions Counsellor maintains a caseload and provides clinical leadership and resources to the Family Centred Addiction Program. The Mental Health Addictions Counsellor provides critical alcohol and other drug assessment, treatment interventions and referral services to participants. This role supports the individual struggling with substance misuse as well as their immediate family. The Mental Health Addictions Counsellor will screen for, assess and provide focused treatment for mental health concerns that are concurrent with substance used. The Mental Health Addictions Counsellor will provide informational programming, as well as individual and group counseling sessions to participants and their children in an in-house setting. This position will assess individual/ family and group needs and implement plans to help participants reach their goals. The Mental Health Addictions Counsellor also provides on-call rotation crisis management support. The
Mental Health Addictions Counsellor is a key communication link between stakeholders through written reports, consults, and case conferences. The Mental Health Addictions Counsellor collaborates with community agencies and referring agents to deliver and implement clinical recommendations. The Mental Health Addictions Counsellor contributes significantly to a positive therapeutic environment for individuals, families and groups. The treatment with families is collaborative. Mental Health Addictions Counsellors host a strengths-based, anti-oppressive theoretical perspective.
Services
* Provide clinical oversight and lead the development and implementation of individual and family treatment plans
* Work collaboratively with the Family Preservation Therapist in the treatment planning for the individuals and families
* Complete all required documentation and provide information and feedback to the stakeholders.
* Provide education, support, and clinical counseling to participants
