The Waterhen Lake First Nation (WLFN) is seeking a full-time Governance Coordinator for a 6 month term (November 2025 - April 2026) with a possibility of extension. This position will support the planning, coordination, and implementation of governance initiatives, including the development and community engagement processes for the WLFN Election Act and WLFN Constitution. This role will work closely with WLFN leadership, administration, and community members to ensure project milestones are met and governance activities are delivered effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination - Schedule meetings, track timelines, and monitor milestones.
Governance Support - Assist in drafting, reviewing, and distributing governance documents.
Community Engagement - Plan and facilitate sessions, workshops, and educational initiatives
Communication - Provide updates and reports to Chief & Council, and Board.
Referendum Support - Assist with preparation, oversight, and community consultation.
Educational Material - Support development of outreach and educational content.
Qualifications
Education - Post-secondary in public administration. Indigenous governance, Indigenous studies, law, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
Experience - Project coordination, community engagement, or governance processes.
Knowledge - FNEA, Indian Act, or custom governance codes is an asset.
Skills - Organizational, communication, and facilitation skills

Working Conditions
Office-based on WLFN, with extensive travel for community engagement.
