The Water Treatment Plant Operator is a certified, support position that is supervised on a regular basis by the Public Works Supervisor with overall accountability to the Manager of Public Works. This position is responsible for operation of the community water and wastewater systems
Operations and maintenance of the water treatment plant.
Operation and maintenance of the community-wide wastewater system in accordance with applicable safety standards
Operation and maintenance of the bacteriological testing laboratory.
Perform all corrective and preventative maintenance to the water, wastewater systems and oversee corrective action required in the event of positive water sampling.
Requisitioning and maintaining inventory of required chemicals, tools, equipment for operation of water and wastewater systems.
Operation of the bottle washing equipment.
Maintain all operation and maintenance records, including but not limited to operating logs, daily diaries, and data logging duties and ensuring safe storage of such records.
Grade Twelve Diploma or equivalent with a Water Treatment and Waste Distribution Certificate. Training can be provided.
An awareness of safety standards for operation of equipment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Capable to work flexible hours and be on-call in case of emergencies.
Level 1 Water and Wastewater training certification is considered to be an asset
