Description

The Ministry of Social Services is seeking an Assistant Supervisor to join the Child Protection team in Buffalo Narrows. This is a drive-in/drive-out position over a four-week average period, working 11-hour days (MondaySaturday) with scheduled days off. Travel time from your home location to Buffalo Narrows may be compensated, and staff housing may be provided.

In this role, you will supervise, manage, and implement programs that provide protective, preventative, and support services to children, parents, and foster families using the Family Centred Case Management and P.R.I.D.E. Models of Practice. You will coach, mentor, and train staff, provide leadership in the absence of the supervisor, assist with service delivery across programs and partner agencies, and liaise with First Nations Child and Family Services and community organizations. You may represent your unit or region on committees and ensure compliance with the Child and Family Services Act and related policies.

The ideal candidate will work effectively with colleagues and caregivers, demonstrate knowledge of child abuse, neglect, and domestic violence indicators, and bring expertise in policy and practice. Understanding multicultural beliefs and values, particularly First Nations and Metis, is essential. Experience with social work theories and coaching professional staff is required.

To qualify, you must have a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited university (approved by SASW/CASW or CASWE) and several years of experience in Child Protection/Childrens Services, including supervising professional staff.
