Description

The Ministry of Highways is dedicated to providing an integrated transportation system that supports economic growth and prosperity for Saskatchewan citizens, with safety as a core value. We are seeking a highly motivated Equipment Operator for the Fort QuAppelle Section within the Operation and Maintenance Division. This role is essential to maintaining the provincial transportation network of roads, highways, and airports.

We are looking for a candidate who is approachable, flexible, and self-motivated, able to work in an inclusive and diverse environment. You must adapt to changing work situations, contribute positively to a team, and demonstrate situational awareness and sound judgment in all weather conditions. Physical and mental resilience is key, as the role involves heavy lifting, physical labour, and stressful situations.

To qualify, you must hold a valid Class 1A drivers license and provide a current driver abstract if interviewed. Basic computer skills are required for email and timecard/expense submissions. The ability to operate, service, and maintain heavy equipment such as tandem trucks, motor graders, and front-end loaders is essential. Experience with advanced hydraulic control systems for snowplow operations is an asset. Strong decision-making skills under extreme and changing weather conditions are critical.
