Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Family Service Regina, a community-based, not-for-profit agency, is seeking an experienced and adaptable Social Worker to provide Rapid Access Counselling at Regina Public Library locations.

This unique role brings professional counselling into community spaces, reducing barriers and connecting people to timely, solution-focused support. The Counsellor provides brief therapy for individuals, couples, and families through walk-in and scheduled sessions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide solution-focused, brief therapy for concerns such as stress, relationships, family conflict, parenting, grief, and emotional regulation.
Conduct intake assessments and establish counselling goals within a single-session or short-term model.
Deliver trauma-informed, culturally responsive, client-centered service in a public, fast-paced setting.
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and privacy in an open environment.
Offer referrals and warm connections to other Family Service Regina programs and community resources.
Collaborate with library staff and community partners to support client access, safety, and well-being.
Complete accurate documentation and participate in supervision, team meetings, and evaluation.
Promote awareness of counselling supports within the library and community.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and registration (or eligibility) with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW).
Minimum two years of counselling experience, ideally in walk-in or short-term settings.
Skilled in solution-focused and brief therapy, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
Experience supporting diverse populations, including newcomers and youth.
Strong crisis intervention, assessment, and communication skills.
Able to work independently in off-site settings.
Valid drivers license, vehicle, and criminal record check required.
Flexibility to work at multiple library branches and one evening per week.
