Description

The Saskatchewan Association of Watersheds (SAW) is seeking a dynamic Habitat Stewardship Director to lead watershed stewardship initiatives across the province. This role combines ecological expertise, leadership, and project management to conserve and enhance biodiversity, promote sustainable land management, and build strong relationships with landowners, Indigenous communities, and conservation partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and implement programs to protect and restore native grasslands, wetlands, riparian corridors, shelterbelts, and manage aquatic invasive species.

Engage landowners, producers, and Indigenous communities to encourage voluntary stewardship and sustainable land use.

Coordinate restoration and habitat enhancement activities with partners.

Provide technical guidance on habitat protection, restoration, and beneficial management practices.

Organize workshops, site visits, and outreach initiatives to build local stewardship capacity.

Develop and maintain partnerships with municipalities, First Nations, Mtis communities, non-profits, and government agencies.

Support grant applications, track deliverables and budgets, and prepare technical and narrative reports.

Supervise staff, interns, and contractors, ensuring safe and effective fieldwork delivery.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to make a tangible impact on Saskatchewans ecosystems while leading collaborative conservation efforts across diverse watersheds.
