The Director of Finance (DOF) provides strategic leadership and oversight for all financial and fiscal management activities of One Arrow First Nation. Reporting to the Director of Operations and working with Chief and Council, departmental directors, and senior management, the DOF ensures financial stewardship, accountability, and sustainability across all programs.
The DOF develops and implements financial strategies, policies, and systems to support the Nations mission and long-term goals, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance, while advising leadership on performance, investments, and operational efficiency. As a senior leadership member, the DOF supports strategic planning, risk management, and community development, ensuring financial integrity and prosperity.
Responsibilities:
Lead financial strategy and provide insights to support decision-making
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and funding requirements
Manage audits, internal controls, and cash flow
Collaborate with departments on financial planning, modeling, and investment strategies
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team
Maintain relationships with auditors, funding agencies, and stakeholders
Qualifications:
University degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA preferred
57 years senior-level experience in financial management
Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, reporting, and internal controls (GAAP)
Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and relationship skills
Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office
Work Conditions: Full-time, on-site in Saskatoon; occasional travel and extended hours during key periods. High confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism required.
