The Role
The Intermediate Geoscientist is part of the multi-disciplinary Geo-Environmental Engineering team within Cameco's Safety, Health, Environment and Quality department. This team provides subject matter expertise to support our mining and milling operations in developing and executing environmental monitoring programs and managing tailings and waste rock through all phases including design, operation and reclamation. The position will be based in Saskatoon with periodic travel to northern Saskatchewan-based operations. This position will provide you with the opportunity for professional growth and the ability to make a meaningful contribution in the safe and environmentally sound production of uranium, which is critical to fuelling the worlds transition to clean energy.
In this role, you will:
-Provide subject matter support in mine waste geochemistry and assist in a broad spectrum of other geoscientific disciplines such as geology, hydrology, and reclamation.
-Support technical, operational, and regulatory aspects of facilities and projects within Cameco's mining division.
-Support senior geoscientists with a variety of project and operational challenges, contributing to Camecos goal to ensure safety and environmental standards are met.
-Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as success depends on building and maintaining relationships and trust with our mining and corporate office teams.
Required:
-Bachelors degree in the field of environmental geoscience
-Three or more years of experience in applied geoscience including field investigations and data analysis
-You must be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
-Proven capability in writing reports and technical communications
