Description

The Ministry of Social Services is hiring an Assistant Supervisor to support the Child Protection team in Nipawin. This is a Drive In/Drive Out position over a four-week average period, working 11-hour days (Monday to Saturday) with scheduled days off. Travel time to and from Nipawin may be compensated, and staff housing may be available.
We are seeking a leader who can coach, mentor, and support staff while ensuring quality service delivery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, a collaborative approach, and a deep understanding of child protection services. You will provide guidance in the absence of the supervisor, support placements and caregivers, and liaise with First Nations agencies and community partners.
To qualify, you must have a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited university (SASW/CASW or CASWE approved), along with several years of experience in Child Protection/Childrens Services and supervising professional staff. You must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel as needed. Candidates must clearly outline their qualifications and experience in their resume or cover letter.
Preference will be given to qualified Indigenous applicants who self-declare. All applications will be reviewed, but only those selected for interviews will be contacted. This competition will create a six-month eligibility list for current and future opportunities.
In this role, you will lead service delivery using the Family Centred Case Management and P.R.I.D.E. Models, support staff development, and represent the Ministry on internal and community committees.
