The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is hiring permanent part-time Correctional Officers at Whitespruce Provincial Training Centre in Yorkton. To qualify, you typically need a university degree in Social Sciences, Law Enforcement diploma, or equivalent education and experience. A valid Class 5 drivers license and First Aid/CPR/AED certification (with at least 12 months before expiry) are required. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of the criminal justice system, human behaviour, and cultural responsiveness, especially with Indigenous populations. Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills are essential.
Successful candidates will complete an 11-week paid Induction Training Program starting January 26, 2026. The physical fitness requirement (COPAT) has been temporarily replaced by a medical evaluation.
In this role, you will monitor and supervise offenders, lead programming, assess risk, apply policy and legislation, and respond to incidents using safe intervention strategies. You will support offenders with trauma, special needs, and diverse backgrounds.
