Description

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
Provide liaison and advocacy with community members and front-line workers
Provide individual, family and group addiction counselling and brief intervention
By identifying community members strengths and skills to teach culturally relevant materials to other community members on request of services basis
Assisting in debriefing sessions, community recovery and wellness initiatives
Reviving the practice of using Elders to pass on their traditional teachings to children and youth
Educate youth on the harms associated with drug and alcohol use
Provide programming for healthy living, harm reduction and recovery to clients
Participate in community activities to promote, partner and network to further the rights and opportunities for community members
Participating in community development projects that enhance the capacity of the community to support families and neighbours
Educate to honour one another as men, women, children, youth and Elders to celebrate individual and collective healing
Work closely with other health teams in organizing health promotional events
Other work-related duties as assigned by Immediate Supervisor.
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Diploma in Addictions (Chemical Dependency), Mental Health & Wellness Diploma or related field
Two (2) or more years of experience in the Addictions field
Combination of relevant education and experience is an asset
Enjoys working with youth and Elders
Must live in the community and have a healthy lifestyle
Strong verbal, written communication and public relations skills
Experience working with First Nations communities including leadership
Ability to work in a dynamic environment, as part of a team and with minimal direction
Ability to speak/understand Cree and knowledge of Cree Culture is an asset
Must have a Valid Class 5 Drivers License and own a reliable vehicle
