Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of essential municipal engineering functions, including:
Project Development: Survey, design, and layout for the construction of various municipal projects.
Inspection: Inspecting construction work performed by private contractors and Town Public Works staff.
Permitting & Compliance: Assisting in issuing building permits in compliance with the Building Bylaw.
Drafting & Documentation: Drafting construction plans, preparing a wide variety of municipal drawings, and preparing contract documents.
Contract Administration: Assisting with contract administration.
Administrative Support: Assisting in processing and recording building permits and the distribution of these statistics.
Asset Management: Assist in development and implementation of a comprehensive infrastructure asset management plan.
Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for a professional who possesses a strong technical background and commendable planning, organizational, and communication skills.
For a Civil Engineering Technologist:
A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related discipline from a recognized educational technical institute.
A combination of Grade 12 diploma and relevant work experience in municipal engineering may also be considered a qualification for this position.
For a Civil Engineer:
A bachelors degree in civil engineering or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Relevant experience in municipal design, construction, and administration is highly desirable.
All Candidates Must Have:
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite programs.
Experience working with GIS (Geographical Information Systems).
Familiarity with databases and database management is a strong asset.
Excellent working knowledge of GPS based surveying and data collection.
High level of experience and comfort in communicating with the public
