Under the direction of the Roadways Supervisor the General Utility Person operates a variety of small equipment and perform duties related to the delivery programs and operations within the Roadways services; Maintain and general repair of City infrastructure.
This position will perform the following duties:
- Investigate complaints and requests for service relating to various Roadways program
- Monitor various inspection programs
- Clean, clear and repair culverts, catch basins, storm drains and sewers
- Operate steam boiler for tawing catch basins, hydrants, etc.
- Operate and maintain equipment to paint traffic lines and apply traffic markings and curbs
- Erect and repair all types of traffic and street identification signs
- Perform graffiti removal
- Supervise and erect street banners and street decorations
- Perform basic oxy acetylene torch use
- Collect cash revenue from parking meters
- Available to work weekends, nightshift and standby duty as required
Qualified candidates will have:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in municipal operations
- Class 3-A leaners, 1A is considered an asset.
- Able to obtain Class 3-A driver's license
- Able to obtain G endorsement; Front End Loader Operator; Oxy Acetylene Torch Certification; WHMIS; Flag person; Standard First Aid, Workzone Traffic Accommodation
- Able to obtain certifications for Elevated Work Platform, Fireman Boiler Operator; Flag Arrest, Respiratory Protection Training and Fit Testing Certification.
