Full-time Coordinator for the Nitisan and Nisimis Program (Big Brother, Big Sister)
The Mentorship Coordinator is responsible for:
supporting and supervising in-school and after-school programming.
The Mentorship Coordinator will be responsible for the successful planning, delivery and evaluation of the program.
The program will offer to MFNCS youth meaningful developmental activities designed to build skills, competencies, confidence, and self-esteem. The programs aim to improve academic performance, attitudes, and behaviour by providing opportunities for learning and experiencing new things for targeted at risk, and challenged youth.
Starting Nov, 26/25 for the 25-26 school year.
Responsibilities/Duties: Mentoring
Plan, deliver and evaluate various programs, activities, and excursions for youth.
Direct, supervise and assist mentors with programming
Integrate key learnings into programs
Support intervention systems for students who need additional assistance
Provide program information to the school, community partners, youth and families
Perform administrative functions for program
Liaise with appropriate community departments
Qualifications:
Candidate should have:
Relevant experience (e.g., with youth and/or students in the school setting, program development, as a coordinator)
An understanding of the role of Indigenous culture in the development of Indigenous youth.
The ability to work independently, be highly flexible, task-oriented, and have excellent time management skills
Excellent organizational, communication, and attention skills
Ability to work independently/in a team environment
Holds an excellent understanding of, trauma-informed practices
Active listener with a strong ability to empathize and engage with youth (and families) in a supportive, non-judgmental manner
Preference for applicants with a background in Social Work or with youth development experience.
Wage range of $25/hr to $30/hr
