Anchor & Thread Community Services is seeking a skilled and compassionate Gender-Based Violence Counsellor to join our team. This role provides trauma-informed counselling and support to individuals aged 12 and older who have experienced gender-based violence, including sexual violence, domestic violence, and family violence.
Responsibilities:
Provide individual counselling and crisis intervention to clients impacted by gender-based violence.
Develop and implement trauma-informed treatment plans that promote safety, healing, and empowerment.
Co-facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic group sessions.
Work collaboratively with the prevention team to support community education and awareness initiatives.
Maintain accurate case documentation and adhere to confidentiality and ethical standards.
Participate in case consultations and professional development opportunities as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Social Work or a related human services field (required).
Must be registered and in good standing with a recognized professional association.
Experience working with individuals affected by trauma and violence.
Strong communication, assessment, and crisis intervention skills.
Must have a valid drivers license and reliable vehicle.
Must submit a current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search prior to employment.
This is a part-time (30 hours/week) temporary position with the possibility of extension based on funding.
