Muskeg Lake Cree Nation is seeking a passionate and grounded Cultural Coordinator to lead the development, coordination, and delivery of culturally based programs that promote nhiywiwin (Cree culture and language), wellness, and identity.
Reporting to the kotawan Prevention Manager, the Cultural Coordinator will ensure that traditional knowledge, ceremonies, and land-based practices are respectfully integrated into community health, wellness, and kotawn initiatives. Working closely with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and internal departments, this role strengthens cultural identity and supports holistic healing for all community members.
Promote understanding and participation in Muskeg Lakes culture, spirituality, and community life.
Assist individuals in developing wellness plans rooted in cultural teachings.
Coordinate and participate in ceremonies and land-based learning opportunities such as:
o Sweat ceremonies, naming ceremonies, round dances, Sundance, powwow dancing
o Talking circles, drumming, fasting ceremonies, medicine picking, hunting, and traditional food preparation
o Cree language revitalization activities
Promote cultural reconnection and traditional family systems.
Collaborate with Health, Wellness, and kotawn teams to ensure language and traditional knowledge integration.
Work with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and cultural advisors to guide programming with respect and authenticity.
Demonstrate commitment to personal wellness, sobriety, and cultural integrity.
Participate in training, renewal, and wellness activities.
