Accountabilities
Participate in field activities to support the assessment and remediation of abandoned uranium mines in Northern Saskatchewan
Carry out environmental sampling of soil, surface water, groundwater and waste rock
Assist with environmental data management, analysis and interpretation
Participate in radiation surveys and scanning (training will be provided)
Oversee contractors as they complete field work activities such as earth moving, test pitting and garbage sweeps
Support report preparation, draft field memos, radiation scanning reports and assist with annual reporting
Assist in planning field activities such as coordinating travel and managing schedules
Qualifications
Engineering or Science degree in a field related to the environment, remediation or mining
1-2 years of experience working in environment, remediation, geology, engineering, mining or construction
Experience working in remote locations or field work experience is preferred but not required
Requirements
Travel to remote, radiation-impacted abandoned mine sites for up to 2 weeks at a time
Extended working hours (up to 12 hours per day) while in the field
Travel by small aircraft, boat and all-terrain vehicles
Valid Class 5 Drivers License
Willingness to be designated as Nuclear Energy Worker (training will be provided)
Walk in rugged, forested terrain with 20-lb (10-kg) backpack for up to 10 hours per day
The chosen candidate will also be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
