The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) is seeking an individual who is self-motivated, organized and results-oriented to lead the Protection Area headquartered at Prince Albert. As a Protection Officer, you will be responsible for protection and fire management activities within an assigned protection area.
More specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Human Resource Management functions to include all aspects of leadership and supervision of several direct reporting employees, contract fire crews and emergency firefighters;
- Wildland fire pre-suppression activities which include, but are not limited to, equipment and infrastructure maintenance, fire response planning, mitigating fire risks and ensuring training is provided to employees to meet operational and safety;
- The organization and coordination of fire suppression tactical and strategic response in the forest protection area;
Performing all required administrative functions relative to the position;
- An assigned fire budget where you will prepare budget plans, budget forecasts, and respond to budget pressures; and
- Managing the purchase of goods and services within the area according to legislated requirements, department guidelines and policies.
