Description

Position Summary
The Justice Liaison plays a key role in supporting community-based justice initiatives and strengthening
relationships between Piapot First Nation, community members, and the provincial and federal justice
systems. The position promotes restorative justice, cultural healing, and community safety through
advocacy, coordination, and collaboration with justice partners.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the main contact between the community, RCMP, courts, and correctional services.
Support community members involved in the justice system by providing information, referrals,
and cultural support.
Coordinate restorative justice and diversion programs in collaboration with Elders and
community leadership.
Assist in developing and implementing community safety and crime prevention initiatives.
Organize justice-related workshops, awareness campaigns, and healing circles.
Maintain accurate case records, reports, and statistics for program evaluation.
Advocate for culturally appropriate justice services that align with community values and
traditions.
Participate in meetings with justice committees, leadership, and government partners.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Justice Studies, Indigenous Studies, Social Work, or a related field
(or equivalent experience will be considered).
Knowledge of Indigenous laws, traditions, and community-based justice approaches.
Experience working with justice or social service programs in a First Nation setting.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills.
Ability to work with confidential information and build trust with clients and partners.
Valid Class 5 drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.
A clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check will be required.
Assets
Fluency in Cree is an asset.
Experience coordinating restorative justice or diversion programs.
Familiarity with provincial and federal justice processes.
