The Ministry of Social Services is seeking an Assistant Supervisor for the Child Protection team in Nipawin. This is a drive-in/drive-out position over a four-week rotation, working 11-hour days Monday to Saturday with scheduled days off. Travel time from home to Nipawin may be compensated, and staff housing may be provided.
We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates leadership through respect and empowerment, and who can coach, mentor, and train staff. You will provide guidance in the absence of the supervisor, assist with service delivery across programs and agencies, and act as a liaison with First Nations Child and Family Services and community organizations. Knowledge of ministry policies, the Child and Family Services Act, and PRIDE practice is essential.
The ideal candidate will work effectively with colleagues and caregivers, understand indicators and impacts of child abuse, neglect, and domestic violence, and bring expertise in policy and practice. Knowledge of multicultural beliefs and values, especially First Nations and Metis, is required. Experience applying social work theories and mentoring professional staff is important.
To qualify, you must hold a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited university (approved by SASW/CASW or CASWE) and have several years of experience in Child Protection/Childrens Services within Child and Family programs, including supervising professional staff.
